""A fascinating book that examines how different German-American leaders saw and encountered the Revolutionary War. Often this group of people is ignored in standard histories of the times, or dismissed as being apolitical, but Wilson demonstrates that they were engaged and active participants. A great book that gives new insights into this formative period in American life."" --Mark Granquist, Lloyd and Annelotte Svensbye Professor of the History of Christianity, Luther Seminary
