Georgios C. Liakopoulos obtained a doctorate in Ottoman History from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2009. He taught Modern Turkish Language (2010-13) and Ottoman History and Palaeography (2016-18) at the University of Athens. His publications mainly focus on Ottoman inscriptions in Greece, the edition of Ottoman archival material, and the Historical Demography and Economic History of the Greek Lands under Ottoman rule. is interests broadly embrace Ottoman Defterology (tax registers), Historical Geography (GIS), Ottoman Epigraphy and Environmental History. He is currently employed as senior postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena
