Katchanovskii's book is a fine attempt to reckon with the ambiguous variable of political culture inthe post-communist arena. [...]The author succeeds in crafting a convincing and well-supported set of arguments and his research certainly constitutes a step forward in dealing with the notoriously thorny concept of political culture. -- Thomas E. Rotnem, Southern Polytechnic State University
