Gr 3-6‘A clearly written text and powerful full-color photographs make this a fascinating overview. Walker offers cogent explanations for how and where earthquakes occur, how scientists are working to predict them, and how to survive if one strikes. In addition to photographs, a number of informative charts and graphs extend the text. Damaging aftereffects such as tsunamis (destructive sea waves), landslides, and fires are also discussed.
