It's one thing to know Bible stories; it's another to know the
story of the Bible. It's one thing to be aware of the story's many
heroes; it's another to have met the Hero himself. From the Old
Testament that anticipates him, to the Gospels that manifest him,
to the Book of Acts that proclaims him, to the Epistles that
explain him, and to the Book of Revelation that tells of him coming
again, your Bible is about Jesus. That's why I love the vision of
the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series. It models for
preachers and teachers how to proclaim--with pastoral focus and
exegetical care--the beauty of the gospel from every page of
Scripture.
Matt Smethurst
Associate Editor for The Gospel Coalition Few things are more
important for faithful biblical interpretation than reading
Scripture in light of its master narrative. The Christ-Centered
Exposition series aims to do just that. In a postmodern age, these
commentaries provide pastors and lay people an invaluable resource
that is unswervingly committed to the authority of Scripture and
the centrality of the Gospel in the Bible's storyline.
Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr., President
The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Danny Akin writes with
the pen of a scholar and the heart of an evangelist. The message of
the Revelation is greatly needed and there is no one more qualified
to explain the prophetic Scriptures than Dr. Akin. I highly
recommend it.
Dr. Jack Graham
Pastor, Prestonwood Baptist Church Revelation is not easy to
understand, but Dr. Akin has succeeded in writing a commentary that
is a great gift to pastors and leaders in the church. With precise
exposition, clear points of application, and thoughtful questions,
this book is both theologically driven and accessible. I cannot
recommend this book enough!
Matt Carter
Pastor, Austin Stone Community Church "This commentary is an
insightful, responsible, theologically rich commentary that
inspires worship as well as study. Danny Akin, a wise and respected
scholar, avoids the silly speculation and the pastoral irrelevance
of many commentaries on this book. Instead, Akin helps us to see
from Patmos the unveiling of our Lord. Such a revelation is just
what we need for this hour."
Russell Moore
President, Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern
Baptist Convention
"Revelation is notoriously difficult to interpret, hence many
preachers are afraid to preach it. Enter this accessible treatment
of the book by Danny Akin written with the pastor and his preaching
in mind. Akin is himself a consummate expositor, and preachers will
find in this volume practical help in sermon preparation. If you
want to know how to preach Revelation, and how to preach Christ
from Revelation, this book is for you. I highly recommend it."
