Rob van der Plas is an internationally renowned bicycle engineer who has been writing books on the subject for many years. His earlier writings include The Penguin Bicycle Handbook, The Mountain Bike Book, and Bicycle Technology. He grew up in Holland and England, before settling in the San Francisco Bay Area - near the birthplace of the mountain bike itself.
