About the Author

Swapan Kumar Ghosh is the Professor and Head of the Department of Jute and Fibre Technology at the Institute of Jute Technology, University of Calcutta, India. He has been engaged in extensive research and developmental work related to the field of Geo-synthetics and Geotextile Technology since 1997 when Geotextiles both in man-made and natural fibers started proving effective in improving geotechnical characteristics of soil and found extensive uses for various technical end-uses like erosion control, management of slopes, strengthening of roads, stabilization of embankments, protection of river-banks, consolidation of soft soil, etc.
