Performer Notes
  • After winning an Oscar for Best Original Score for The Social Network, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross re-team for the soundtrack of David Fincher's American adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Reznor's and Ross' recorded score clocks in at over three hours, and is released in numerous configurations online and at retail, including as a $300 deluxe, signed, six-LP box set. Other than a strident cover of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song," the score is moody, often restrained, and in its way, as disturbing as the film.
Professional Reviews
Rolling Stone (p.54) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross roll out three hours of often weirdly engrossing metal-machine music....There's a huge debt to Brian Eno at his most austere..."

Billboard (p.16) - "'Hidden in Snow' hauntingly mixes the creepy and the tender."

Kerrang (Magazine) (p.69) - "[T]his is largely music designed to create mood. And that mood is isolated and uncannily still."

Pitchfork (Website) - "[T]he most arresting moments emerge out of layers of increasingly damaged soundsÿthat set an uncompromisingly bleak mood."

Uncut (magazine) (p.97) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[M]urky Eno-style synth washes and Reznor's echo-soaked piano lines go to some gloomy, emotionally wrenching places."
