He is the author of Clausewitz and the State: The Man, His Theories, and His Times (Princeton Paperback) and editor and translator, with Michael Howard of Clausewitz's On War (Princeton). Gordon A. Craig is J. E. Wallace Sterling Professor of Humanities Emeritus at Stanford University. Felix Gilbert is Professor Emeritus in the School of Historical Studies, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton.
