About the Author

John L. Esposito is a professor of religion and international affairs in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and editor-in-chief of the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World. His most recent books are Unholy War: Terror in the Name of Islam and What Everyone Needs to Know About Islam.

François Burgat is a fellow at the Institut de Recherche et d'Etudes sur le Monde Arabe et Musulman in Aix-en-Provence, France. His most recent book is The Islamic Movement in North Africa.
