About the Author

Nelly Balloffet began her library career as a cataloger, after receiving her M.L.S. from Columbia University. She became interested in preservation and trained in book and paper conservation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, later working with Carolyn Horton. She is founder of Paper Star Associates, Inc., her business devoted to preservation of books and works on paper. She has collaborated with Jenny Hille at numerous workshops and in writing the appendix to Emergency Planning. She has been teaching preservation for more than 25 years. Jenny Hille is a book and paper conservator and library consultant based in Riverside, Connecticut. She created most of the illustrations in the book. Hille trained and worked at the Yale University Conservation Studio and studied book conservation and fine binding in Europe. She holds an M.Phil from Yale University and M.L.S. from Southern Connecticut University. She teaches library conservation workshops and conducts preservation surveys for libraries in the New York metropolitan area and Connecticut.
