About the Author

AUTHOR INFORMATION Louis Fischer was born and educated in Philadelphia. In 1922 he was sent to Berlin by the New York Post and spent most of the next 25 years interviewing practically every significant figure of his time, from Gandhi to Churchill. He taught at Princeton from 1959.
