Noel Botham was born in York in 1940 and educated at Dulwich College. He has been a crime reporter and war correspondent, covering conflicts in the Middle East, Czechoslovakia and Algeria. He worked for the Evening Star and the Daily Herald before becoming Chief Reporter of the Daily Sketch. He is now a freelance series writer, working principally for the News of the World. He is married with four children, and lives in Surrey.
