Dave Thompson is the author of some eighty rock biographies including the first ever biography of U2. Publications have included the best selling biographies of Kurt Cobain (Never Fad Awau) and the Cure (A Visual Documentary), a study of dead rock stars (Better To Burn Out) and a succession of very hefty encyclopaedias on alternative rock, funk and record collecting. The Third Ear Listening Guide to Reggae & Caribbean Music won the prestigious 2003 ARSC Award tp Best Reshearch in Recorded Folk & Ethnic Music. is most recent titles include biographies of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Phil Spector and Genesis, and the novel To Major Tom- Letters To David Bowie.
