The Authors: Oto Strauch is a member of the research staff of
Mathematical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences since
1986. His research interests firstly focus on metric theory of
diophantine approximations, he published some papers on so called
Duffin-Schaeffer conjecture. Strauch's current field is the theory
of uniform distribution and he has concentrated on distribution
functions of sequences.
Stefan Porubský is a full professor of mathematics at the Institute
of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague and
the author of several books and of more than 50 publications in
number theory, combinatorics, commutative algebra, cryptology and
history of mathematics. He spent 20 years at the Mathematical
Institute of Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava.
«The volume is clearly indispensable for all scientists who work in the theory of uniform distribution or in related fields.» (J. Schoissengeier, Monatshefte für Mathematik)
