About the Author

James Tod James Tod was a British army colonel and Political Agent ofRajasthan from 1818 to 1822. He combined his official role and hisamateur interests to create a series of works about the history andgeography of India, and in particular the area then known asRajputana that corresponds to the present day state ofRajasthan.
