About the Author

André Blais is Professor in the Department of Political Science in the Department of Political Science at the Université de Montréal, a research fellow with the Centre interuniversitaire de recherché en économie quantitative (CIREQ), with the Centre interuniversitaire de recherché en analyse des organisations (CIRANO), and holds a Canada Research Chair in Electoral Studies. His research interests are voting and elections,
electoral systems, public opinion, and methodology. Professor Blais has published more than 100 journal articles. His most recent books are: Losers' Consent: Elections and Democratic Legitimacy (Oxford University Press, 2005, with Christopher
J. Anderson, Shaun Bowler, Todd Donovan, and Ola Listhaug), Election Laws in Democracies (University of Toronto Press, 2004, with Louis Massicotte and Antoine Yoshinaka).
