About the Author

Michael Barnett is Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His books include Dialogues in Arab Politics: Negotiations in Regional Order (1998), Eyewitness to a Genocide: The United Nations and Rwanda (2002), and, with Martha Finnemore, Rules for the World: International Organizations in Global Politics. He is also co-editor, with Emanuel Adler of Security Communities (1998). Raymond Duvall is Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor of Political Science and Associate Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change at the University of Minnesota. His recent publications include Cultures of Insecurity: States, Communities and the Production of Danger (1999), co-edited with Jutta Weldes, Mark Laffey and Hugh Gusterson.
