Dennis Montgomery began his career as a writer and editor with the Associated Press in 1968. His work with Colonial Williamsburg, the journal of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, began twenty-three years later, and led him to the magazine's helm in 1998.
Extensively illustrated with both contemporary images and
photographs of modern reenactments, this is a nice book for
browsing while offering some interesting insights into Jamestown's
nascent years.

Copiously illustrated in color with prints, portraits, maps, and
photographs. . . . 1607: Jamestown and the New World is a useful
addition to the popular literature on America's beginnings.
*Journal of Southern History, November 2008*
The book's debunking of traditional patriotic myths is a refreshing
respite from anniversary hype.
