Carole Hillenbrand is Professor of Islamic History at the University of Edinburgh. In 2005 she became the first non-Muslim scholar to be awarded the prestigious King Faisal International Prize for Islamic Studies, reflecting her 'revolutionary approach to the largely one-sided subject of the Crusades'. She is the author of a number of books including The Crusades: Islamic Perspectives (EUP, 1999).
A truly excellent book that scholars and students of Middle Eastern, Islamic, Crusading, and military history will find useful.--Timothy May"H-War" (01/01/0001)
