About the Author

John R. Schindler is a professor of strategy at the Naval War College and a former National Security Agency intelligence analyst and counterintelligence officer. He speaks several languages and has published widely on issues of espionage, terrorism, and military history, including the periodicals War in History," the Journal of Strategic Studies," Orbis," Jane's Intelligence Review," and the International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence." His first book, Isonzo: The Forgotten Sacrifice of the Great War" (2001), was a featured selection of the History Book Club. Professor Schlinder lives in Newport, Rhode Island.
