Reviews

Falk's case is the more plausible (if not definitely proved) because of Falk's immense scholarly massing of numerous source materials, and telling anecdotal bits.

Sometimes a case study scarcely illumines its own subject; occasionally a case study illumines the human condition. The book under consideration is in the latter category. Avner Falk, a prolific Israeli clinical psychologist, is among the most imaginative and scholarly of contemporary writers who utilize psychoanalytic insights to interpret history and politics.... Beyond the life of Herzl, Jewish history, and 20th-century history, Falk's work is a major contribution to the study of the psychology of nationalism with its many and always impermanent fateful mother-and father-lands.
