About the Author

Stephen Jones is a leading British Milliner. He was born in 1957 and graduated from Saint Martins School of Art in 1979. In addition to his Model Millinery collection, he designs the widely distributed Miss Jones and JonesBoy diffusion ranges. In 1984 he became the first British Milliner to work in Paris designing hats for Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler and Comme des Garçons. More recent associations include Marc Jacobs and Giles Deacon. However his most celebrated millinery is with John Galliano for his eponymous label and in particular their creations at Christian Dior. Jones's hats are in the permanent collections of the V&A, the Louvre, FIT, and the Kyoto Costume Institute. Jones co-curated Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones at the V&A (2009). Susannah Frankel is fashion director of Grazia magazine. She was fashion editor of The Independent from 1999-2012. In the late 80s Frankel worked at BLITZ Magazine. She was deputy editor of the title until was forced to close in 1991. Frankel has contributed to the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty monograph, as well as exhibition catalogues for Viktor & Rolf, Martin Margiela, Peter Jensen, Hussein Chalayan, Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto.
