About the Author

Abdul Quayyum Khan Kundi has been contributing op-ed essays to leading Pakistani newspapers The Daily Times, The Frontier Post and weekly Pakistan Chronicle. His op-ed columns cover topics related to politics, social issues and foreign policy. He is active in politics of Pakistan as member of Advisory Committee of Pakistan Tehreeke Insaf (PTI). In a Dec 14, 2011 article Mr. Kundi presented emergence of a new multi-polar world order. In this new order American hegemony is challenged by a collaboration of Sino-Russo alliance resulting in a new cold war. He previously authored the books "Freedom by Choice" and "Lessons from Quran". His first book "Freedom by Choice" is a collection of writings on US-Pakistan relations, reforms in the Muslim world and balance of power in South Asia. The second book "Lessons from Quran" is a compilation of Quranic verses with specific focus on the social values. The book "Islamic Social Contract" is an effort by Mr. Kundi to present a political system derived from the social values proposed by the Quran and Sunnah (tradition) of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). In last hundred years Muslim majority gained independence from colonial power but struggled with implementing secular form of democracy. Mr. Kundi feels that political liberation of Muslim world cannot be achieved unless they develop political systems that are in sync with the cultural tradition of Islam. The book "Islamic Social Contract" offers a social and political structure on which reform movements of the "Arab Spring" can build stable societies.
