Finally, a complete picture of the master Italian film director Federico Fellini. Most books on Fellini tend to focus on Fellini himselfhis eccentric behavior, his bizarre coterie of friends, and the circus-like atmosphere on his film sets. Other books are didactic, often contradictory explorations of Fellini's work 8 , La Dolce Vita , and Amarcord. Film critic Alpert keeps his balance here, offering witty anecdotes, first-hand reportage, and a strong critical perspective in detailing Fellini's life and works.
