Gr 9 Up-In this excellent follow-up to The ``Children of Peristroika'' (Sharpe, 1991), Adelman reflects the recent changes in the lives of the 11 teenagers she originally interviewed in 1989. She describes the young people as representing ``...a generation still caught between the old and the new'' and how, on her return to embattled Moscow, she found that in the three years since she had last seen them they had been thrust full force into adulthood. These updated interviews present a comprehensive look at the new Russia from a unique viewpoint, and result in a strikingly honest overview of youthful attitudes toward parents, gender stereotypes, marriage and family, religion, careers, political beliefs, and numerous other issues.
