William D. Anderson, Jr. was a professor of biology at the College of Charleston from 1969 until his retirement in 1996. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Anderson holds a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. He has published numerous papers on fishes, coedited volumes on cold-blooded vertebrates, and served for three years as general ichthyology editor of Copeia, the journal published by the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists.
