About the Author

Frances Cheston Train is a country person who claims to be allergic to cities. She still lives in two of the family houses described in this memoir. Her interests are African ethnology, writing, fly-fishing, outdoor life, homemaking, caring for her dogs and placating difficult but interesting husbands.
