Liam Clarke has worked for The Sunday Times since 1984 and is currently Northern Ireland Editor. His recent stories include current members of the IRA Army Council and articles about British Intelligence dirty tricks in Northern Ireland. His last book, Broadening the Battlefield: H Blocks and the Rise of Sinn Fein describes the rise of Sinn Fein following the 1981 hunger strike. His wife, Kathryn Johnston, has researched and written about Northern Ireland paramilitary organisations for a wide variety of British and Irish television companies and newspapers. She is working on a film into the effects of Bloody Sunday on the people of Derry, for which she has interviewed current and former members of the IRA in Derry, including Martin McGuinness. They have three children and live in Northern Ireland.
