About the Author

Boy Cornils has worked at the former Hoechst AG in Germany, where he was the director of the reasearch. He is the editor of several bestselling titles. Wolfgang A. Herrmann is president of the Technical University of Munich and has received several awards for his work in organometallic chemistry, like the Otto-Bayer Medal, the ACS Award in Organometallic Chemistry, the Werner-Heisenberg Medal of the Alexander von Humboldt foundation and many more. He has authored a plethora of publications and is the editor of numerous bestselling books. Martin Muhler is Professor at the Ruhr-University of Bochum. He is the recipient of the DECHEMA award and author of more several publications. His main interest is the exciting field of heterogeneous catalysis. Chi-Huey Wong received has been Professor and Ernest W. Hahn Chair in Chemistry at the Scripps Research Institute since 1989 and is also a member of the Skaggs Institute for Chemical Biology since 1996. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is author and co-author of over 450 publications, 60 patents and several books and his current interests are in the areas of bioorganic and synthetic chemistry and biocatalysis.

Reviews

"It is a very useful starting point for information on any aspect of catalysis or biocatalysts, and is recommended for collections serving chemists or chemical engineers, or students in those fields." (American Reference Books Annual, March 2008) "...this third edition is a valuable expert guide for all people..." (Angewandte Chemie International Edition, February 2008) "In summary, this work offers exactly what its subtitle promises: a very precise encyclopedia of catalysis. Off all the topics in the field of catalysis that I have looked for in this book, not one has been missing." Rainer St? BASF AG, Ludwigshafen Angewandte Chemie + IE 11/04 "In summary, I would highly recommend "Catalysis from A to Z" for all scientists and engineers whose work is related to the field of catalysis. Specifically, if you are from an interdisciplinary related area and naturally not too familiar with all vocabulary used in the field, you will find it particulary useful to have this encyclopedia on your bookshelf." J?Libuda, Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Berlin ChemPhysChem 3/04 "Mit "Catalysis from A to Z" wird dem Katalytiker ein herausragendes Lexikon an die Hand gegeben." Chemie-Online "...this book is a must for all libraries in institutes with research groups active in catalysis. Indeed this reference work will be of value to all senior academic and industrial scientists with an interest in one or more of the (converging) areas of catalysis." Stanley M. Roberts, University of Liverpool (UK) ChemBioChem 6/2004 "The content is well-written, suitable for both undergraduates and researchers." E-Streams Vol. 7, No. 5 "Surprisingly comprehensive, this 824-page work is essentially a dictionary - not an encyclopedia-giving advanced discussion of terms drawn from all aspects of catalysis." Choice, June 2004, Vol. 41 No. 10 "...approximately 4600 catalytic or catalysis-related terms are defined by 190 authors and coauthors who are all experts in their respective areas." Journal of the American Chemical Society, June 9, 2004
