About the Author

Bob Woolmer played cricket at the highest levels and was considered the most innovative coach at the time of his tragic and untimely death at the 2007 World Cup.

Reviews

Cricket plays a minor role in American consciousness, but that is likely to change somewhat with increasing immigration from the Caribbean and South Asia, where the game has an almost religious following. Only a few of the massive number of cricket books produced worldwide make their way into the U.S. publishing market. The current title earns a place among the best of these, given its practical skills-based instructional features and the elegance of the writing. A modern legend as both player and coach, Woolmer was coaching Pakistan when he died suddenly during the 2007 Cricket World Cup.... Certainly, comprehensive sport collections should have it, and probably also academic institutions with significant Caribbean American and South Asian American student populations.
