British photographer Ben Hassett, (born London 1974), who lives
and works in New York City, has established a reputation as one of
the world's foremost beauty and portrait photographers in the world
today. Experimenting with shadow and light - color and form - he
follows in the tradition of Irving Penn and Irwin Blumenfeld, as a
commercial photographer who also creates Fine Art. His work is held
in the collection of the National Portrait gallery in London and he
is a regular contributor to Vogue magazines worldwide. Alongside
his commercial studio practice, he creates experimental still life
and landscape photography.
Charlotte Cotton is a curator and writer who has held positions
including curator of photographs at the Victoria and Albert Museum,
head of programming at The Photographers' Gallery, London, and
curator and head of the Wallis Annenberg Department of Photography
at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She is the author of the
influential book The Photograph as Contemporary Art (2004) and has
authored and edited books, including Imperfect Beauty: The Making
of Contemporary Fashion Photographs (2000), Guy Bourdin (2003),
Photography is Magic (2015), Public, Private, Secret: On
Photography and the Configuration of Self (2018), and Fashion Image
Revolution (2018).
