Dr. Betty Hagglund has spent many years studying and writing about exploration, and has published numerous books and articles on the topic. She grew up in the United States, not far from the spotwhere Lewis and Clark began their expedition, but now lives in England. She is a lecturer at the University of Birmingham, where she has taught courses on the history of travel and travel writing, and a Visiting Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University, where she is involved with a research project on early 19th-century women explorers and scientists. A frequent traveler herself, she generally likes cold places better than hot ones, and would love to see Antarctica someday.
