The series does a good job of providing basic information to young children about pet care. The books, each subtitled "How to Choose and Care for...," focus on teaching students basic good pet owner dos and don'ts. There are illustrations or photographs on every page, which makes the series attractive to reluctant readers. The books are in touch with the pet trade, too.
