"Take the picture first; then worry about identification and safety later" is Dennis Schmidt's motto for photographing wildlife. Dennis met his wife Esther at a time in life when most people are beginning to anticipate a comfortable retirement. His pictures tell us clearly that he has both a concern for the cause of wildlife conservation and what is meant by "professional photography". Esther Schmidt's commitment to wildlife photography has been a life-long endeavor. She has travelled across Western Canada, with her husband Dennis, forging intimate relationships with the landscape and the wildlife it supports. She has been a full-time photographer for twenty years and the beauty in her images testifies to her love for working outdoors in the Rocky Mountains.
