Walter Kasper is a German cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He is president emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, having served as its president from 2001 to 2010.
'As Cardinal Kasper makes clear in his short but insightful book, the Pope is completely committed to the Synodical process. Holding a synod in two sessions, a year apart, and encouraging consultation by the bishops of the wider Church really does mark a new development...Kasper also emphasises the importance of 'mercy' in the present Pope's thinking.' -- Paul Richardson, www.churchnewspaper.com
