About the Author

Family background

David Coory was born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1946 to a father of Christian Lebanese descent and a mother of Scottish/Welsh ancestry. His family then moved to the West Coast of the South Island where he spent his early childhood. The family later returned to the Wellington area where his father managed a small dairy farm. David attended St Bernard’s Catholic College in Lower Hutt.

Early career

David’s first jobs were office administration positions in a women’s clothing manufacturing factory, and then in the photographic and automotive industries.

In his early 20’s, after marrying Marie Pearson a young woman of Swedish/English descent, he turned his enthusiastic teenage hobby of car renovation into a full time business as a self-employed car spraypainter and renovator. Despite his hands on work career David always remained a life-long avid reader of non-fiction and fine literature.

David then moved his growing family and business northwards from Wellington, to Tauranga to the warmer Bay of Plenty area and for the next 15 years he was satisfied with his career and his car renovation business prospered. At the same time he and Marie raised six children, four boys and two girls. During this time David also served 8 years as a lay pastor in a local Christian church.

Career as a writer – First book

David eventually became bored with car painting and renovation and closed his business, selling the land and buildings and becoming involved in property development. However he did not find this new career spiritually satisfying and so wrote and published a book called 'Spraypainting and Panelbeating for the NZ Home Handyman.' This book (now out of print) sold well, as cars during the 1980’s were expensive in New Zealand and prone to rust. The book sold 16,000 copies and was followed up with a 2 hour video by the same name which also sold well.

Second book – 'Stay Healthy by Supplying What’s Lacking in Your Diet'

Around this same time, in 1982, when David was 35, his 66 year old father had a serious heart attack. His dad did not die (he lived to be 96) but this was a health wake up call for David and sparked a growing interest in natural health.

He researched natural health voraciously over the next five years, also experimenting with his own health. As he began sharing my findings with baby boomer friends and peers he found great interest in health and diet. His own health was also beginning to improve markedly. In 1988 he wrote and published a do-it-yourself book on practical nutrition called 'NZ Nutrition and Your Health'. This book instantly sold amazingly well, as it was timely and easy to follow.

Ideas for further improvement of the book flowed in from readers and the next edition was republished as 'Stay Healthy by Supplying What’s Lacking in Your Diet'. The book has continued to sell strongly, year after year, originally by direct mail through the publishing company 'Zealand Publishing House' that David had founded but nowadays through the natural health company 'Health House' also founded by David but now managed by his eldest son Mike Coory.

Sales of the book now exceed 98,000 copies. It is by far the top selling New Zealand health book of all time and a new expanded 11th edition was published in 2021 after years of further research. The book shows you how to prevent or heal just about any health problem, by showing you which minerals and vitamins you're lacking in your diet, and then showing you the foods that provide these missing minerals or vitamins, usually minerals. David says, I include the kind of things I want to know myself, like what do the food additive numbers mean on processed food packaging, and which ones can be harmful?”

The three common comments from readers are: "The information is really useful to me." "It's the best health book I've ever read." "I have improved my health in (some dramatic way)."

Third book – 'Secrets of Fascinating Womanhood'

David has also authored a self-help work book to assist women in bringing out the best in their husbands called 'Secrets of Fascinating Womanhood'. It's a true love story of a separated woman called Angela who saves her marriage by attending the famous Fascinating Womanhood marriage course devised by the late Helen Andelin. This course, found in the book, shows women how to use their natural femininity to bring out the best in their husbands.

This book also became a top seller in New Zealand, and created such a stir among women that a New Zealand '60 minutes' TV documentary was made about it. The book is available worldwide as a Kindle book and paperback from Amazon. Countless thousands of copies of this book have been read by women worldwide. Many report that their marriages have been saved or enhanced, and even divorced couples have remarried as women follow the timeless truths in this book. A Spanish version of this book is also available.

‘The Condensed Bible’

David also devoted 15 years to creating a condensed version of the Bible for searchers of truth who may be daunted by the size and complexity of the traditional Bible. This Bible is titled 'Condensed Bible' and is half the length of the traditional Bible, but contains all of the original books, stories, parables, prophecies of the full length Bible. David states,“I've tried to make it flow naturally and never be boring. I’ve done everything I can as a writer to make this Bible as clear and accurate as possible. There are interesting footnotes, maps, and hundreds of photographs. It's not intended to replace the Bible, rather it's for anybody who finds the full length Bible hard to understand. I just love to simplify things.” Reader feedback has been 100% positive. David is now working on a new enhanced edition due out in August 2025.

'Cure ADHD and Allergies with the Feingold Diet.’

Another co-authored book to be published late 2025 is 'Cure ADHD and Allergies with the Feingold Diet.’ This book is an account of the experience and success of the late Brenda Sampson, who ran the 'Wellington Hyperactivity Association' for 20 years, using the world-renown Feingold diet.

This diet was developed by pediatrician and allergy specialist, Dr. Benjamin Feingold and is used throughout the world with great effectiveness. The book contains numerous success stories, shared by parents who used this diet with miraculous results within their families. Both children and adults have been cured. The book shares practical ways to implement the diet and is supplemented by David’s years of natural health research.

Latest book – ‘The Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the 1000 year Millennium’

David’s latest book, in the process of being published (also in August 2025) is "The Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the 1000 year Millennium". No other book like this has ever been published. It extracts all the prophecies and revelations from five genuine books of Scripture – the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price, pertaining to our premortal life before birth, the teachings and parables of Jesus, and the prophecies of the Last Days, the Great Tribulation, the rise of the charismatic world dictator the Antichrist and his miracle working prophet, and the glorious Second Coming of Jesus, the three Heavens and the 1000 year Millennium.

All the words in the book are literally the words of God, angels, Jesus and prophets, and are presented in chronological date order of happening. The prophecies, etc, are colour coded according to which book of Scripture they come from. The book paints an astounding and vivid picture of what lies ahead, and also answers the questions, where we have come from and why are we here.

Current situaltion

David, now in his 79th year, still lives in Tauranga, New Zealand with his wife, children and grand children and is still actively involved in his faith, health research and writing. David appears to have inherited his passion for writing and research from his Lebanese forefathers. His grandfather Joseph Coory attended school in Becharre (in the mountains of Lebanon) with the world-famous Christian Lebanese writer Kahlil Gibran (author of 'The Prophet'). Kahil's influence appears to have inspired the Coory family with a love of literature.
