In the early 2000s, indie singer-songwriter Will Oldham (aka Bonnie "Prince" Billy) became even more prolific than usual, issuing six albums (including collaborations with Matt Sweeney and Tortoise) in less than three years, along with a slew of EPs and singles. This '06 three-song offering, the second to draw from THE LETTING GO (after CURSED SLEEP), continues that streak, presenting the title track along with two non-album tunes. While "Cold & Wet" is bluesy and uncharacteristically whimsical, "The Way" eases into Oldham's wistful, folk-influenced aesthetic like an old shoe, and "Buried Treasure" is a plugged-in Crazy Horse-like rocker, making for a brief but surprisingly dynamic release.
