The Japanese hardcore band is uncharacteristically serene on this series of stately sounding recordings--the only track that goes full-out for the hardcore jugular is the soaring "Shield of Selfishness," whose throat shredding vocals are juxtaposed against a surprisingly ambient guitar backdrop. The rest is, if not silence, at least comparative tranquility, and on cuts like the spare "The Unknown Glare" and the emotive "A Warm Room," genuinely moving.

Alternative Press (No. 10/01/2006) - "Plenty of sonic nuances are at work here; harsh, muffled screaming is mad beautiful; full-blown soundscapes are engineered...and exercises in dynamics are varnished with a sensibility that's equal parts gloomy and optimistic."
