  • Martin Denny's Exotica was originally released in 1957 on Liberty and contained the number one hit "Quiet Village." The original version was recorded in mono and became so popular that the following year the album was re-recorded for stereo. The 2005 reissue on Rev-Ola contains both versions; Denny said he preferred the original mono. Casual listeners should stick with one of the many Martin Denny compilations. ~ Al Campbell
