The conclusion to the story begun in Lords of the Middle Dark and continued in Pirates of the Thunder and Warriors of the Storm. Jon Nighthawk and the crew of the spaceship Thunder face their greatest battle in the effort to obtain the last two rings they need to break the stranglehold of Master System and free the people of Earth. Chalker's talent for intricate plotting maintains suspense down to the wire in one of his finest sf series to date. Recommended. JC
