THE QUIET WAR is an epic of hard science, politics, economics and human evolution, driven by a pacy narrative and vivid characters. A plausible future that's every bit as sprawling, bloody and compelling any work of history.' STEPHEN BAXTER 'This book is quietly brilliant. It will probably prove to be - quietly - the best science fiction novel of the year. It is superbly, and often exquisitely written; McAuley is simply one of the best prose stylists working in the genre today. The worlds were superbly rendered: vivid and believable and wonderfully immersive' ADAM ROBERTS
