About the Author

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (known by the pseudonym Lewis Carroll) was born in 1832. He was an ordained Deacon and an Oxford don. He was also a notable photographer, especially of children, with whom he had a remarkable rapport. It was for one child in particular, Alice Liddell, that the story of Alice was created. Carroll published a sequel, Through the Looking-Glass, in 1871. He died in 1898.

Anthony Browne is one of the most celebrated author-illustrators working today. He was Children’s Laureate from 2009 to 2011 and has won multiple awards, including the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal twice, the Kurt Maschler Award three times and the much coveted Hans Christian Andersen Award. His outstanding work is loved and admired all around the world. He lives in Canterbury.
