Hired by Professor Iris Carrolton to investigate a colleague's disappearance, private investigator Aidan Mardian travels to Arizona's Superstition Mountains, where he uncovers an unearthly conspiracy of dark malevolence in the shadow of the legendary Lost Dutchman Mine. Niswander's tribute to Lovecraftian horror suffers from an overcrowded, ill-paced plot and shallow characters. The fourth novel by the author of The Charm (LJ 9/15/93) is not recommended.
