Reviews

"Reevaluating Major Naval Combatants of World War II is a superb collection of provoactive essays on eight navies. With a carefully crafted introduction by the editor to alert readers to the volume's salient interpretations, this timely reassessment early in the 50th anniversary of the Second World War promises to rekindle debate and comparative study analysis of naval effectiveness in the most compelling war of the century. While initial agreement with the capable author's conclusions will not be universal, academic and general public audiences alike will be obligated to rethink carefully why they disagree. A major contribution to naval literature."-Carl Boyd Professor of History, Old Dominion University
