Reviews

'Full of insights as it retraces a journey though places of fabulous natural and cultural diversity by the first person to articulate evolutionary theory concrete, engaging and enjoyable' INDEPENDENT'Fluent and entertaining' TLS'Filled with candour and plenty of humour, taking me on a journey through a region I know so little about. It shines a guiding light on a world Wallace described so elegantly a century earlier' WANDERLUST'The intimate observations of unreported environmental destruction and vanishing rare creatures- and their hunters- are painfully urgent.' THE TIMES'His account is fascinating: in part a biography of the gentle, humane naturalist, in part a travel book highlighting the region's beauty and the environmental dangers facing it.' SUNDAY TIMES
