About the Author

Judith Berdy, writer, researcher, and lecturer, has been a resident of Roosevelt Island for twenty-five years and is the president of the Roosevelt Island Historical Society. She contributes to the Wire, the island's community newspaper, and gives historical tours and lectures for the society.
