About the Author

Educated at Oriel College, Oxford, James Leasor was commissioned into the Royal Berkshire Regiment and posted to the 1st Lincolns in Burma and India, serving there for three and a half years in World War II. His wartime experiences inspired him to write such books as Boarding Party (filmed as The Sea Wolves) and The One that Got Away, the story of the sole German POW to escape from Allied hands. He later became a feature writer and foreign correspondent at the Daily Express. His books have been published in 19 countries.
