About the Author

Karin Michelson is an Associate Professor of Linguistics, Department of Linguistics, State University of New York. Mercy Doxtator (1936–2005) taught the Oneida language for almost twenty-five years at the Oneida Nation of the Thames, where she was the founder and director of the Oneida Language and Cultural Center.
