About the Author

Ralph Y. McGinnis was professor and chair of the Speech Department at the University of Montana at Missoula for many years. During his last years he was director of Lincoln Studies at Eastern Illinois University. He was in great demand as a speaker and authored several books and articles about the Great Emansipator. Calvin N. Smith is professor of speech communication at Eastern Illinois University.
